Blog assignment 1

Reading the article "Snooping Bosses" gives you a number of mixed, both positive and negative, feelings.

One of the first things that came on my mind in the introduction of the article was, it all depends on who you are. Are you a snooping boss or an employee?

If you are running a company you must look after your business. Of course you'll embrace all the existing and future possibilities if it means that you can protect your interests. Always good to try to be one step ahead....  The feeling is not that positive if you are "on the other side", iaw as an employee. Being monitored must provide a sense of persecution. In my own thinking, these types of surveillance will not be applied in Sweden with all personal laws etc, this is the US, but I know I'm wrong. We have this already and more will come.

Also, looking outside the business world and into the future, there could be areas where you would welcome surveillance. For example, in the future all babies will have chip in their arm and we'll have no more children being kidnapped!!

  1. Its good with a chip in the arme for the babies so they dont get kidnapped, but i sure hope they will take it out edventually so the poor guys who are born in the future cant be tracked all the time throughout their lifes!

And of course all this depends on from which side you see it. My fear is that to much of spying will kill the free society especially if it is done from private owned companys.

  2. I must say that I agree with the view of it depending on "which side" of the fence one is standing. Although I feel that this subjects creates a lot more facets than what has been explained here it is nonetheless my belief that if given a choice, the majority of humans would choose to be the "Snooping Bosses" rather than not pick a side at all.

  3. Hi Helena
I feel that people are reluctant to point out liguistic errors in the text but I am quite blunt with this. I do not consider it my right but my obligation as we have been asked to do so. One has a right to disagree both with my thoughts and language. So here they are!

As far as the context of this post is concerned I am partially agreed to this. Spying is of course different to the two sides. A boss has to use every possibility to be secured and an employee must not feel obscured. But I think that there should not be anything hiding on both ends. An employee should be told of all the surveillance he would be under durig office hours and he must be a free man after the working hours. On the other hand, an employee should also be loyal to the company and commited to his work. I know this is a bit unrealistic but this is only how a relationship of trust and dignity can be developed. In the end I must praise the your thought of positive use of surveillance. Kidnapping of children can really be controlled by putting a chip in their arms.:P
