Watching The Story of Stuff gave me a feeling of resignation...
Being told that one third of the worldwide nature resources are gone, hearing about neurological toxics especially the way it was described via breast feeding and many other awful describtions increased this feeling of resignation. All this production demanded by us, you and me. Without thinking why we need certain things and how they are produced.
The positive thing is, as it was described in the film, that we still can make a difference. Everyone can start all over again and make it right by taking control over the situation. I think we need this types of reminders every now and then. It's easy to fall back into old habits.
Let's hope that we can re-claim the earth before it's too late
Indeed lets hope we can do that. It's all to true about people falling back into old habits so the most effective method would be for new rules and laws to be made.

I agree with what you've written. It's slightly depressing that it's come to this. But as you've stated, it's a relief that we still have the ability to change.
SvaraRaderaIt still awakens a feeling of betrayal. One would think that people with a lot of power would know that power needs responsibility...as in not deceiving the public into consumption.
Resignation is also a very good word for my feelings after I had watched the story about stuff. But as you say: It is not too late to do something about it. To be able to change the world every one of us has to work together and we need to start now. If not, we will have no chance to re-claim the earth before it is too late.

Hi
SvaraRaderaI can too feel resignation when faced with this kind of problems especially when it has the magnitude of this one.
A thought that often gets me in a better mode is that even if we now know for sure that things will get ugly and a lot of people will die the human species have always had a talent to adapt. This is no reason to just don’t give a fuck but to work on with the knowing that sometime in the future we will turn things around. And then we will be back on track again. History tells us that major crisis have happened before like the plague which was considered like the dooms day in the medieval time.
But I will not only encourage you to reason like someone who are seeing the apocalyptic coming closer, which it’s by the way does. Sometime in the future the sun will be out of energy and if we don’t have the technology to leave the solar system we will all die. But put that aside and take a stand, stop your excessive consuming and tell others to do as well. See the problem and try to come up with solutions. Try to get the people who are elected to the parliament to see the problem. It’s hard but not that hard lobbyist is doing it all the time. And even if we go down we will not do it without a fight! And if we are giving up without a fight, we actually are not worthy being here anymore. Nature is tough and doesn’t spare any one, that is easy to forget in our very comfortable society!
Keep fighting the good fight Miss Ask!
I belive you summed up the whole movie, its good and bad messages, in a short and informative text.
SvaraRaderaWith the good message I mean the part of the movie about that it's not to late to make a difference. There is a swedish man named Johan Rockström who has been done research about earth and its planetary boundaries wich we should act within for keep the earth in the holocene state.
